About Tenggol Diving

Tenggol diving take place around a set of islands that are the most southerly of Terengganu’s Marine Park islands. It consists of Pulau Tenggol (Tenggol Island), Pulau Nyireh, Tokong Timur, Tokong Burung and Tokong Talang/Tokong Kemudi, Tokong Laut. Pulau Tenggol lies 14 nautical miles off the coast of the quiet fishing town of Kuala Dungun, Terengganu, Malaysia. This rocky island about 50 hectares in size, spans less than 3 kilometers in length and 2 kilometers at its widest point, is one of the most beautiful and serene islands.

Tenggol Dive Side

We have dive sites for every ability level here in Tenggol. From calm shallow coral reefs suitable for beginners and open water divers to wreck diving and deep drifts to give the advanced divers a challenge! Tenggol Island has some great wreck dives.

Tenggol Sea Life

Nudibranch are common and come in vast numbers across a range of the species. Small Shrimps and even rarities such as ghost ornate pipefish can be found at certain sites. Pulau Tenggol is located along with the whale sharks migratory route normally from August to October every year.

Tenggol Marine Park

Tenggol Island is part of a larger Marine Park group, meaning its reefs and wildlife are protected. The corals, therefore, are in beautiful condition for the most part. Around Pulau Tenggol you will find more than 26 scuba dive sites and 7 more around the nearby satellite islands of Tenggol.

Some of the diving can be a challenge depending on your experience and certification level. Tenggol Special Dives is here to advance your skills and help you dive in comfort with confidence!

Scuba Refresher Dive

Its recommended that if you haven’t been diving for 6 months or longer, you may want to take a refresher dive first to make sure you can remember everything and relax on your dives.

Wreck – PADI Adventure Dive

You could take the full PADI Wreck specialty or you can take the Wreck – PADI Adventure Dive when you sign up for your PADI Advanced Open Water Course.

Night – PADI Adventure Dive

Learn all about night diving and experience the reef after dark when the aquatic life changes shift and the nocturnal animals come out to play. Like all PADI Adventure Dive, this credits to BOTH the PADI Advanced Open Water Certification and the PADI Night Diver Certification.

Peak Performance Buoyancy – PADI Adventure Dive

Buoyancy control is one of the most important skills a diver can master and one of the hardest at times to get control over. Spend some time with one of our PADI Instructors and let us show you the techniques required to Master your control in the water. You can spend 1 dive with the PPB Adventure to get the first set of tips towards a new level of control or you can make 2 dives and complete the full PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty Course and become a Master of buoyancy control in just 1 day with the right training and practice.

When you’re not scuba diving or snorkeling on Tenggol, you will find it has a very tranquil and relaxing atmosphere. If you like wildlife or photography you could spend hours around the resort observing the Tenggol Island Wild Life. Each day we see Monkeys, Monitor lizards, Praying Mantas, Squirrels, Crabs and sometimes if you have a good eye for seeing things you can spot snakes or giant fruit bats high up in the trees above. This is just on land, imagine what variety of Sea Life Tenggol is hiding around its rock outcrops and fringing reef areas.

Tenggol is a small island and now a protected marine park, approx only 3km long and only 2km at its widest part. It is mostly wild untouched Jungle with a few pristine white sandy beaches. On the west beach, the largest on the island, Tenggol Coral Beach Resort has built a resort beautifully blended within the natural surroundings of the island. On the island, it’s hard to imagine your only 45mins from the mainland as you glace out across the blue clear blue waters lapping the soft sandy beach or look up and around at the surrounding 800ft rocky hills with enormous towering jungle trees that must be ancient. Tenggol in these moments feels like a lost world.
